The Mountain House is where progress stops — at least temporarily. Obstacles, delays, immovable resistance, and the patience required to wait out what cannot be pushed through all belong here. A card in this position shows what is blocking you and whether the obstacle will move or must be navigated around.

When a Supportive Card Lands Here
Protective boundary. A supportive card here reframes the obstacle — the delay is protecting you from something worse, the blockage is giving you time you need, or the resistance is redirecting you toward a better path.
When a Difficult Card Lands Here
Genuine impasse. A difficult card here confirms that the obstacle is real, the delay is costly, and forcing through will not work. Patience, rerouting, or acceptance may be the only options.
